Arrest made in shooting death of Hampton man

HAMPTON, Va. – Police arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting death of 43-year-old Kevin Buie on July 4.

Hampton Police arrested Chester Daniel McCright and charged him with one count of Murder, two counts of Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, two counts of Robbery, one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and one count of Reckless Handling of a Firearm.

Kevin Buie was found in the 3800 block of Victoria Blvd where he was suffering from a single gunshot wound. He died later at a hospital.

According to police, Buie was approached by three unknown suspects, one of the suspects then produced a handgun and demanded the victim’s property. During the robbery, Buie was shot one time.

McCright was arrested without incident and was taken to the Hampton City Jail.
