Police looking for person of interest in deadly Norfolk shooting

NORFOLK, Va – Norfolk Police are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred July 15.

Just before 2:25 a.m., police were called about a gunshot victim on 49th Street, near the intersection of Hampton Boulevard, not far from the campus of Old Dominion University.

According to police, when officers arrived they found Dante Lewis, 24, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound inside of a car.

He was initially taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with life-threatening injuries and he later died from those injuries.

Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a person of interest in the case. There are no active warrants on file for the man, but police believe he has information regarding the incident and would like to talk to him.
