ASHBURN, Va. – The 4 o’clock deadline has passed, and Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins is officially playing the 2016 season under the one-year franchise tag.

According to CBSsports.com, Cousins will make close to $20 million, but more importantly, he can’t sign a new long-term contract until the end of the season.

This news shouldn’t come as a surprise as the Redskins will wait the season out to see if Cousins can produce offensive numbers similar to last season.
