NORFOLK, Va. - Norfolk Police are investigating a shooting death at Lafayette Park in the 3500 block of Granby Street, near the Virginia Zoo.
Dispatchers received calls around 9:20 a.m. on Monday, July 18, 2016 reporting a man on the ground, unconscious and not breathing.
Police arrived to find the man with an apparent gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Police have identified the victim as 46-year-old Addison Shearin of Norfolk. Family told News 3 everyone in the area knew him as 'Hollywood.'
"He was a good man. Jolly. Always happy," his niece Alexus Dawkings shared. He was the street clown."
Detectives say they are investigating the death as a homicide.
