Two local high school students attend First Lady’s summit at the White House

BeatingtheOddsSummitNORFOLK, Va. – Two high school graduates will attend the First Lady’s Beating the Odds Summit at the White House on Tuesday.

The students are from Norfolk and Portsmouth and are representing ACCESS College Foundation.

Destiny Cobb is a graduate of Norview High School and Tiara Benson is a graduate of Wilson High School.

The Beating the Odds Summit brings together 130 college-bound high school graduates from 2016 to the White House for a celebratory event with First Lady Michelle Obama.

IMG_3448Students attending the summit represent urban, rural, foster, homeless, special needs, and under-represented youth who have substantial obstacles to persist through high school and to make it to post-secondary institutions.
