VALDIVIA, Chile – Point guard Matt Coleman, who starred at Norfolk’s Maury High School before transferring to Oak Hill Academy, scored 10 points in his debut with USA Basketball’s U18 men’s national team Tuesday.

In a 103-70 victory over Puerto Rico in the group round play of the 2016 FIBA Americas U18 Championship, Coleman pulled down a pair of rebounds and dished out two assists in addition to his 10 points. The 6’2″ point guard, who started the game for Team USA, was one of five players to score in double-figures.

Former VCU head coach Shaka Smart, now the bench boss for the Texas Longhorns, is the head coach for Coleman’s U18 national team.  Team USA continues group play Wednesday vs. the Virgin Islands.
