PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Two Portmouth elementary schools are getting new fences this summer.
Lowe's Toolboxes for Education awarded James Hurst Elementary and Victory Elementary grants to put up new chain link fences around their playgrounds.
It's part of their summer playground safety project.
Students and their families, along with teachers and community members will be the ones putting the fence up.
Ari Durall with Portsmouth Public Schools said both of these elementary schools were in need of fences and this will make the community a safer place.
