CHESAPEAKE, Va. - Chesapeake Police are looking for a suspect who broke into the office of St. Stephen Martyr Church in Chesapeake during the early hours of July 12.

The church is located in the 1500 block of S. Battlefield Boulevard. The suspect, who appears to be a white male, was dropped off at the location in a small, dark-colored, four-door vehicle.

While inside the church office building, the man stole gift cards, cash, a credit card machine, brass candlesticks, payroll checks, and a laptop computer.

The owner of East Coast Home & Garden said his business has been broken into at least 6 times in the last few years. The garden center is less than half a mile down the street from the church.

Owner Dennis Snow said the uptake in crime may coincide with the uptake in traffic.

Anyone with information that may help police is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
