PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Police are investigating a string of robberies in the city. Since Sunday, there have been four armed robberies at stores and one attempted robbery.

The latest happened Thursday afternoon when someone with a gun went into George's Market on Des Moines Avenue. The suspect got away with money. "He put a gun me. He said, 'This is a robbery,'" recounted Pamela Anstead, who was working at the time. "It just shocked me. I went back inside the register and have him all the money and he ran."

While there's no surveillance video from Thursday's incident, police have released video other incidents in the hopes someone will recognize the people involved. So far, police are still investigating whether the incidents are related.

"I just thank God he didn't hurt me," said Anstead. "That's all I can do."

Robberies also happened at Church Food Mart on Portsmouth Boulevard, Valero Gas Station on High Street, and at Family Dollar on High Street. There was also an attempted robbery at Getty Mart on George Washington Highway.
