PORTSMOUTH, Va. - According to police, a female inmate died at the Portsmouth City Jail on Thursday. Officials say the female, who has not yet been identified, was found unresponsive inside the jail just after 1:30 pm.
Medics arrived, and tried to revive the inmate, but she was eventually pronounced dead.
Detectives with the police department tell News 3 the inmate's death is currently under investigation, but were not able to say whether or not it appears to be suspicious.
