WACHAPREAGUE, Va. – The Coast Guard rescued two people from their disabled boat on Tuesday.
The boat began taking on water in the Metompkin Inlet, near Wachapreague.
Watchstanders received a call just after 10:45 a.m. stating a 15-foot skiff with two people aboard was disabled and taking on water.
At about 11 a.m. a 24-foot Special Purpose Craft-Shallow Water Coast Guard crew was launched.
An MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter Coast Guard crew was already in flight in the area and changed course to the sinking boat.
Two distressed boaters were transferred to the SPC-SW. Both were wearing their life jackets.
Crews dewatered the sinking boat and towed it back to Station Wachapreague.
No injuries were reported.
