17-year-old suffers possible life-threatening injuries in Newport News shooting

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – A 16-year-old was shot in the back and leg in Newport News Friday night, according to police.

The male victim was shot in the 2600 block of Chestnut Ave.

The teen was transported to a local hospital with possible life-threatening injuries.

The victim is in serious but stable condition as of Wednesday, according to police.

Police say the suspect is a light skin black male. There is no other suspect information at this time.

Police are still on scene, stay with News 3 as the investigation develops.
