SUFFOLK, Va. – A City of Portsmouth fleet car drove through a guardrail and overturned on Tuesday, according to a city official.
The vehicle was traveling westbound on Route 58 and crashed just before the Downtown Suffolk exit.
Emergency Communications received a call about the crash just after 12 p.m.
A male driver, who was the only occupant in the vehicle, was extricated by Suffolk Fire and Rescue personnel.
He was then provided emergency medical assessment and was airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
He suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
