NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Hilton Park and King Lincoln Beaches swimming advisory has been lifted on Friday.
Water samples taken on Tuesday showed that bacteria levels exceed the State Water Quality Standards, and they are now back to normal levels.
Recreational waters are monitored for bacteria through the summer months while beaches are in use.
A sign was posted at the beach warning the public of the advisory.
The bacteria found does not cause illness but scientific studies indicate that their presence is closely correlated to the presence of other disease-causing organisms.
