PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Portsmouth Police are investigating a shooting where they say a 15-year-old boy was shot in the leg early Wednesday.

Just after 1 a.m., police were called to the 600 block of Edwards Street after receiving reports of a person injured in a shooting.

They arrived to find the 15-year-old victim suffering from gunshot wound to the lower leg.

The victim told police he was hit twice after a vehicle pulled up to him and his friends and began firing a gun. The victim and his friends ran from the area, but he was still hit.

The teen was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

There is no suspect or motive information at this time.

Anyone with information that may help with the investigation is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.

This is the fourth child to be shot this week in Hampton Roads. Three children, ages 10, 16 and 16, were shot Monday in a Newport News neighborhood.
