An intense video clip from 2007 that has recently surfaced on YouTube shows the frightening moment a lion lunged after a small child on live television in Mexico.
The video shows the TV host of Con Sello de Mujer interviewing the guests, alongside a lion, when the small child begins to cry. The lion seems to perk up at the sound of the child’s crying. A few seconds later, the animal abruptly lunges toward the child. You can see the lion bite and tug on the child’s pants and paw at the child’s leg.
A man (who appears to be the lion’s keeper), jumps into action, frees the child’s pants from the animal’s mouth, and pulls the powerful creature back. During the whole ordeal you can hear screaming and the show’s host repeatedly saying “tranquila, tranquila,” pleading with everyone to stay calm.
Some viewers were angered by the mother’s seemingly unworried expression as the fierce predator pulled at the girl’s leg.
According to the video’s description on YouTube,
“The animal clawed and bit the tiny toddler in front of her mother after being allowed to get worryingly close on Mexican women’s show Con Sello de Mujer.”
