Second man arrested in shooting of friend while they were attempting to commit robbery at the Oceanfront

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va, – A second man was arrested Friday for his involvement in an attempted robbery that ended in the shooting of one of the robbers.

According to Virginia Beach Police, 30-year-old Michael Scott of Suffolk was shot by a friend as they attempted to rob a home in the 300 block of 22nd Street.

Police said that Scott and two other men targeted the residence and entered it with the intention to commit a robbery.

During the robbery attempt, one of the two other suspects fired a gun and hit Scott.

Deandre Evans Womack, 23, of Franklin, was arrested Friday and charged with Robbery, Burglary, two counts of Use of a Firearm and Attempt to Commit a Noncapital Offense.

Womack is being held in the Virginia Beach Correctional Center without bond.

The other suspect, Garry Ta’Sheen Hamlin of Suffolk, age 26, was arrested Sunday and charged with two counts of Robbery, two counts of Use of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Armed Burglary.
