Alcohol, speed factors in deadly Virginia Beach crash, police say

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – According to police, alcohol and speed were contributing factors to a crash that killed one person.

Just after 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, dispatch received a call about a crash in the 900 block of Fort Story Hospital Road.

Two cars, a Chevrolet Camaro and Nissan Altima, were driving fast on Fort Story Hospital Road. The driver of the Nissan Maxima lost control while entering a curve in the road way, causing him to run off the roadway and hit a tree.

The driver of the Nissan died. A passenger in the vehicle was taken to the hospital for serious injuries.

The driver and two passengers of the Camaro were not hurt. Charges are pending for the driver of the Camaro.
