NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – A mother of an 11 month old baby has been charged with Abuse/Child Neglect after the child was admitted to the hospital, according to police.
Yasmine Taliaferro, 25, brought her daughter to the Riverside Hospital Emergency Room on August 10 for an infection on the baby’s buttocks and leg.
The child had reportedly suffered from an injury a week earlier and it became infected.
Medical staff felt the injury did not match what they observed.
The child was transported to The Kings Daughters for treatment of a possible burn injury.
Child protective services was notified and interviewed the family.
On August 12 Taliaferro was arrested and charged with Abuse/Child Neglect: Cause Serious Injury and Contribute to Delinquency of a Minor.
