NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – A man has been shot in Newport News, according to police.
An officer was in the area of 35th Street and Madison Ave. around 8:30 p.m. when he heard a number of gunshots coming from 36th street.
The officer immediately responded and located a 23-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victim was transported to a hospital with serious injuries.
No suspect information is available at this time as the investigation is ongoing.
