RIO DE JANEIRO – Just what was happening behind BBC News anchor Dan Walker during a recent live broadcast from the Rio Olympic games?
Eagle-eyed social media users spotted the couple over his right shoulder and wondered if they were having sex. Walker addressed them on air, saying, “We’re not going to zoom in, but rest assured, it’s not that.”
“It’s just a hug,” Walker said, trying to suppress a smile.
In case that explanation didn’t suffice, Walker gave another, “They’re reading a book,” he said. “Apparently they’re reading a book. They’re reading a book in a strange pose, OK?”
After promising not to zoom in, Walker moved on to the day’s basketball scores, but later tweeted, “It’s live TV. Anything can happen!”
