Unlicensed contractor accused of conning people in Virginia Beach to plead guilty

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – A Virginia Beach contractor has waived his right to a preliminary hearing after being accused of conning several people.

Instead, the unlicensed contractor will plead guilty to one count of Fail to Perform Construction Return for Advance on September 14.

Richard Warren Gentry is accused of conning Brendan Reilly out of $1,800.

Reilly told News 3 that he hired Gentry build to him a fence. However, after making a deposit he back in March, the work was never completed.

Court records show Gentry has been charged with construction fraud multiple times in multiple cities.
