NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Former Virginia Secretary of Education Anne Holton met with voters at Rep. Bobby Scott's annual Labor Day cookout on Monday. Holton is married to Democratic vice presidential candidate Sen. Tim Kaine.
Holton joined many other local and state Democratic leaders. They talked about how important it will be to make sure voters get out to the polls. Labor Day marks the final sprint of the campaign season.
"Tim says we're making history here. That is never easy," said Holton. "This race is going to be close. Virginia is absolutely going to be a battleground. There is nothing we can take for granted."
Rep. Bobby Scott told reporters he would an accept an officer to replace Tim Kaine in the senate if he's asked and if Hillary Clinton wins.
