NORFOLK, Va. – Hampton Roads Transit will present the results of the 30% engineering designs and projected capital costs for the light rail extension.

The extension designs are to take The Tide out to Virginia Beach Town Center.

HRT will present the information on October 3.

Currently, HRT and its partners, the City of Virginia Beach’s light rail team, and the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation are reviewing all cost and engineering assumptions to reach a common understanding among the project’s scope.

The designed plans and support documents in the 30% plans were developed by HRT, its consultant, Light Rail Partners, and two leading engineering firms.

The work began in June 2015.

The latest work also completes the remaining environmental work necessary to advance the project.
