NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Peninsula Health District issued a swimming advisory for Hilton and Huntington Park Beaches on Wednesday.
The advisory was lifted on Thursday.
Recreational waters are monitored for bacteria through the summer months while beaches are in use.
A sign was posted at the beach warning the public of the advisory.
The advisory was lifted when bacterial levels decreased.
The bacteria found does not cause illness but scientific studies indicate that their presence is closely correlated to the presence of other disease-causing organisms.
