Hampton Police search for bank robbery suspect

HAMPTON, Va. – Police are investigating a bank robbery that happened Thursday.

Hampton Police tweeted at 12:07 p.m. that detectives were on scene investigating a bank robbery at Old Point National Bank near the Mallory Street and Mellen Street intersection.

According to police, a male suspect entered the bank and passed a note to a teller. The suspect got an undisclosed amount of money and fled the area on foot. He was last seen running northbound toward Bainbridge Ave.

Police are currently searching for the suspect.

The suspect is described as a black male in his late teens to early twenties, between 5’6″ and 5’8″ tall. He was last seen wearing a black hat, black hoodie with a white logo on the left breast pocket, dark colored pants and black shoes with a stripe.

There were customers inside the bank at the time of the robbery but no one was injured.
