NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - A shooting was reported near Briarfield Rd. and Chestnut Ave. Thursday evening.
According to police, there was one male victim who died after being transported from the scene.
The 28-year-old victim has been identified as Kevin Anthony Jackson, of Hampton.
Jackson was driving a gray pickup truck and crashed into a tree after being shot in the 6000 block of Chestnut Ave.
Authorities responded to the call of the incident at 4:52 p.m.
There is no suspect information available at this time.
