CHESAPEAKE, Va. – A 49-year-old woman was killed in a head-on collision in the 3700 block of Battlefield Boulevard on Thursday night, according to police.

Police say a vehicle heading southbound on Battlefield Blvd. struck a vehicle head-on that was traveling northbound.

The female driver who died on scene was traveling northbound. She has been identified as 49-year-old Christine Creighton of Currituck, N.C.

Her husband tells News 3, Creighton was on the way to work at a Chesapeake Home Depot, where she was a paint supervisor and “loved by all associates and management.”

“She  always pushed me for excellence. She was the best person and the kindest,” he tells News 3. “I have lost my friend, my soul mate, my wife, my love, my hope and strength.”

A male driver of the southbound vehicle was transported for injuries. The extent of his injuries are not known.

Police responded to the incident at 8:30 p.m. and say alcohol is a possible factor in this incident.
