Elizabeth City police chase ends in crash, suspect runs away

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – Police are looking for a man who led them on a car chase, crashed into a car and ran away from the scene.

On Saturday around 4:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to a reported indecent exposure at the Food Lion on 1313 North Road Street.

While they were on their way to the call, officers saw a car matching the suspect’s vehicle description on North Road Street at Hughes Boulevard.

Officers got behind the vehicle, a 2003 Acura with North Carolina registration PDK-6201, on West Broad Street at North Road Street.

The suspect did not stop, even after officers turned on their emergency lights and siren. The driver traveled nearly 3 miles and ignored a stop sign on North Road Street.

The suspect then hit a 2012 Honda Accord and ran away from the scene. Medics took the driver of the Honda Accord  to Sentara Albemarle Medical Center with minor injuries.

The suspect is described as a black male with a stocky build and approximately 5’10”. He was last seen on foot in the area of Queen Street towards Walnut Street.
