Police investigate burglary after car smashes into Newport News gun shop

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – A car crashed into the Virginia Gun and Sports Supply building Tuesday morning.

Dispatch received a call at 4:34 a.m. after the car hit the building.  When police arrived, the driver was not at the scene.

According to police, detectives are now investigating the case as a burglary. However, it does not appear that any guns or other items were taken from the store.

Detectives have spoken to the owner of the gun shop and the owner of the car, a 2015 Chrysler 200.

No one has been arrested or charged in connection with the case.
