PORTLAND, ORE. – It’s spider season in the Pacific Northwest, and one driver is thankful to be alive Wednesday after surviving a scary close encounter with an arachnid.
A woman driving through the Bonny Slope area of Portland Wednesday morning lost control when a spider dropped down from the rearview mirror of her gold-colored Toyota sedan.
In a moment of panic, she veered off the pavement near the intersection of NW Thompson and McDaniel, rolling the car in the ditch running alongside the road.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office told KOMO that the car was totaled.
The woman suffered a minor scratch to her hand, according to officials. There was no sign of the spider, KOMO reported.
While she may have to buy a new car, things could always be worse – like when this Seattle man spotted a spider in his home and reached for a lighter, spray paint and a rolled up newspaper.
