NORFOLK, Va. – A child is safe after a non-custodial father was arrested for taking the child from Virginia to Colorado.

On June 21, a felony warrant was issued for the arrest of 47-year-old John Francis Rose on an alleged violation of a court order regarding custody and visitation. It is alleged that he took his minor child from the child’s mother, who is the legal guardian, and then left the state.

An investigation was launched by Norfolk Police who discovered that Rose and the child had left his home in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. The child was not believed to be in any harm.

The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force assisted in the investigation and learned that Rose had fled to Colorado.

Around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, U.S. Marshals apprehended Rose as he walked out of a Walmart in Colorado Springs, Colo. alongside the minor child.

The child was unharmed and turned over to child protective services until the child can be reunited with the mother.

Rose is being held at the El Paso County Jail in Colorado Springs.
