Man hit and killed by vehicle on Hampton Boulevard in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. – Police are investigating after a person was hit and killed by a vehicle at the intersection of W. 38th Street and Hampton Boulevard on Wednesday morning.

Shortly after 6 a.m., police and fire-rescue crews were called to the area and located a man lying in the road.

The man was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Preliminary investigation discovered the victim was a pedestrian walking across Hampton Boulevard when he was struck by oncoming traffic.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the incident remained at the scene.

Police closed one north and one southbound lane on Hampton Boulevard during the accident investigation. Shortly before 9 a.m., all lanes were reopened for normal traffic patterns.

The victim’s name will not be released until his next of kin has been notified.
