VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Three people in distress were pulled from the water in Sandbridge Friday afternoon.
Officials were called to the 3400 block of Sandfiddler Road shortly before 3 p.m. on a report of a swimmer in distress.
When rescue crews arrived, they determined that several people had gone into the water to try to help the swimmer, resulting in five people in distress in the water
Three of the people had to be rescued by members of the Virginia Beach Fire & Rescue team and the Virginia Beach Emergency Medical Squad.
Two others got out of the water on their own.
Two people were taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries and one person refused treatment at the scene.
