PHILADELPHIA - Bruce Springsteen has been traveling around to bookstores selling copies of his new autobiography 'Born to Run,' but it's what he did for a young boy at a Philadelphia book signing that people are talking about.
Fifth grader Michael Fenerty wanted to meet The Boss, but that meant he'd have to miss school.
Michael's dad has been a Springsteen fan for 41 years and has been to 160 or so of his concerts. Michael had to miss a recent concert because ticket prices were too expensive, so his dad promised he'd make it up to him by letting his son miss school to meet The Boss at the book signing.
Michael typed up an absence letter with his dad, and when he met Bruce, he asked him to sign it.
Michael's dad says Bruce lit up and joked with him, saying: "I have to read it first.. That's how I got in trouble with my first contract."
After the event Michael's dad said he couldn't give up the memorabilia, so he photocopied the letter to give to the school's principal and kept the original.
