Pedestrian hit by vehicle, seriously injured in Chesapeake

CHESAPEAKE Va. – A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Wednesday night, according to police.

Around 10:50 p.m. Chesapeake Police responded to the intersection of Canal Drive and Broadmoor Ave., after a 57-year-old male was hit by a vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle was still on scene and told police a pedestrian walked out in front of his vehicle to cross the street.

The driver was traveling southbound on Canal Drive and struck the victim.

The pedestrian was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured and the incident is still under investigation.
