VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Students from Rudy & Kelly Paul Mitchell School were spreading love and joy by giving free hugs to random strangers Tuesday.

A group of ladies from the school stood outside of Woods Corner Shopping Center with signs saying “Free Hugs.”

According to the Paul Mitchell website, around 16,000 students from 100 schools  gather outside of plazas, parks and other places to give free hugs each year.

“Our Free Hugs campaign is just one of the many ways our future beauty professionals show their passion and compassion in their local communities,” said Paul Mitchell Schools Dean and Cofounder Winn Claybaugh. “As members of the beauty industry, we’re in the business of helping people look beautiful. More important, it’s part of our ‘be nice’ culture to help people feel beautiful.”
