757 Showdown: Cox stepping out of the Beach District to face Granby

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - This week's 757 Showdown stays in Norfolk, but has Virginia Beach twist to it. Granby (4-3) hosts Cox (6-1) in a tilt that you usually don't see.

Before the Virginia High School League unanimously voted in 2015 to allow Beach District schools to play non-district games, you knew who your 10 opponents were each season. It's something Cox head coach Bill Stachelski has wanted to do since coming to the Eagles in 2000. "I thought it was a good opportunity to go somewhere else, get out of the beach. It gets kind of redundant, playing the same teams, year after year in the beach, and not being able to get out to Chesapeake, Norfolk, and the peninsula for that matter."

The game will be played at Powhatan Field at Old Dominion University. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. News 3 Sports Reporter Mitch Brown will be live at Powhatan Field starting on News 3 at 4.
