Newport News Police looking for help solving 2002 cold case murder

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Newport News Police are looking for help solving the 2002 murder of Sean Dewayne Shackleford.

On September 27, 2002, Newport News Police officers responded to the 13500 block of Warwick Boulevard for a report of a shooting at the James River West Motel.

When they arrived on scene, they found 22-year-old Shackleford’s body lying in a doorway.

A black male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, black jeans and gloves was seen riding a bicycle away from the scene.

The Newport News Police Department is asking for help bringing closure to the victim’s family and bring the offenders to justice.
