NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk parking meters will now accept credit cards in addition to coins and smart cards, making parking a little easier.
The multi-space meters will serve an entire parking lot and will replace the old meters in the Granby Municipal Lot at 400 Granby Street and the Education Lot at the corner of St. Paul’s Blvd., and City Hall Ave.
Smartphone users can still use the mobile-payment service by downloading the free Passport app. If you don’t have a smartphone you can call 757-230-2092 to set an account up.
People who currently use smart cards will be offered a free exchange for a new smart card that is compatible with the new meters.
Bring your current smart card to Parking’s Customer Service Center at 222 E. Main Street anytime on or after Tuesday, October 25.
The new parking meters will take five days to install.
