VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – City council members will vote on Nov. 1 about whether to grant an extension on the arena deal, according to Mayor Will Sessoms.
The original deal with United States Management, LLC gave the developer until Nov. 8 to secure funding for the project. The vote will be for a 60-day extension, which Mayor Sessoms believes will be passed.
USM asked to change the terms of the deal. Earlier this month only eight council members agreed to grant them it. Nine votes were needed as it involved a land transfer. The vote put the future of the project in question.
Sessoms says the developer and some members of council continue to work to bring an arena to the city.
