Woman accused of stealing banking info to buy $16k in money orders in Hampton Roads

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Portsmouth Police need your help identifying a suspect caught on camera using stolen banking information to buy over $16,000 in money orders.

Detectives say that between July 29 and July 30, a woman went into several Harris Teeter stores throughout Hampton Roads to buy the money orders using the stolen information.

“The victim was not aware of the charges for several days due to money being fraudulently transferred from a savings account into his checking account during the time that these transactions occurred,” a Portsmouth Police spokesperson said.

Detectives believe the suspect is driving a red sedan.
