Crash in Isle of Wight County leaves several injured

ISLE OF WIGHT, VA. – All lanes of Courthouse Highway have reopened after a crash forced the lanes to close for several hours early Friday.

Isle of Wight County’s Sheriff Office said they received a call Friday morning just after 5 a.m. reporting the crash in the 13000 block of Courthouse Highway.

When crews arrived to the scene , they found a head-on collision with an entrapment.

The investigation revealed that a 22-year-old driver in a Honda  was traveling north on Courthouse Highway when he lost control and collided with a Cadillac SUV traveling south, driven by a 37-year-old woman.

The driver of the Honda was transported by Nightingale to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Cadillac SUV was transported by Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad to Riverside Hospital with minor injuries.

Virginia State Police is assisting the Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation.

Speed may have been a factor in the crash. However, the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
