Coast Guard rescues man after boat runs aground near Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Coast Guard rescued a man from a boat on the Little Creek Jetty in Norfolk Saturday evening.

Watchstanders received a call around 6:35 p.m. of a 24-foot boat carrying two people that ran aground on the east side of the Little Creek Jetty.

One passenger had injuries to his face and arm.

The Coast Guard launched a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium and arrived around 6:40 p.m.

Two members of the Coast Guard got boarded the grounded boat and assisted the man.

The man was taken to the Vinings Landing Marina, where medics took him to Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center in Norfolk.
