Six drug overdoses in 12 hours sparks warning from Portsmouth Police

Posted

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Portsmouth Police are issuing a warning to citizens after officers responded to six different drug overdose calls within 12 hours.

Medics saved the lives of five of the six people by administering NARCAN, a drug that reverses the effects of a heroin overdose. Medics were unable to make it in time to save the life of one person.

“We are warning all citizens, who may have used, purchased or is considering using drugs such as heroin, to think twice,” said Detective Misty Holley.

Detectives are asking everyone to refrain from using and purchasing illegal drugs, especially heroin.

If you suspect drug activity in your neighborhood or have information about any other crime occurring within the community, call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
