NORFOLK, Va. - An eight-week-old puppy was stolen from a couple's home.

"I've never been through this and I wouldn't ever want anyone to go through it, it's awful, it's like one of my children have been taken from me," says Amy James.

Norfolk Police say they were called to the 1300 block of Azalea Garden Road back on November 7th for a residential burglary.

James and Christopher Hensen told police they left around 6 at night to go out.

When they returned, the front door glass was broken, the door was unlocked, and the eight-week-old American bulldog puppy, Hiccup, was missing.

The couple tells News 3 that the thief took two TV's as well.

"You can replace all those, you can't replace Hiccup," says James. "I'm more worried about if he is cold, is the person that has him feeding him?"

James says the outpouring of support through social media, especially on the Lost & Found Pets - Hampton Roads, VA page, has been especially helpful. She keeps getting new ideas of where to look, and it's putting more eyes and ears on the lookout as well.

"I don't think I could have gotten through it without it," she says. "The not knowing is killing me, I just want to know if he's OK, I want him back."

Police are asking anyone with information about the burglary to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.

If you know of Hiccup's whereabouts, you can also post that information on the Lost & Found Pets page.
