Man hospitalized after arm caught in cement truck in Hampton

HAMPTON, Va. – A man is in the hospital after his arm was caught in the auger of a cement truck Wednesday afternoon.

Fire and Rescue crews were called to 802 W. Pembroke Ave. just after 3 p.m. to assist.

Upon arrival, crews located a 49-year-old man with his right arm caught in the machine.

The man was alert and oriented and able to communicate with crews.

Saws and an acetylene torch were used to free the man who was full extricated within about 45 minutes.

He was taken to a local trauma center for evaluation.

According to fire-rescue personnel, the man appears to have a serious but non-life threatening extremity injury.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
