NORFOLK, Va. - A gun was found at Maury High School Thursday afternoon, according to a letter sent from the principal to parents.
The school sent students home with a letter regarding the incident:

Dear Parents of Maury High School Students;
This morning, the school administrators were notified that a gun was seen by a student in a classroom. The School Resource Officer and Norfolk Police Department searched the classroom, recovered an unloaded gun, and the student was quickly apprehended without incident.
The safety and security of students and staff is a top priority. The incident is currently under investigation by school administrators and the Norfolk Police Department. Please contact the school with further concerns at 628-3344.
According to police, the 15-year-old student has been detained and taken to the police operations center for questioning.
No students or teachers were injured during the incident.
