NAVAL STATION NORFOLK – The U.S. Navy’s Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Mahan (DDG 72) left Naval Station Norfolk on Saturday for a scheduled deployment to the 5th and 6th Fleet area of operations.

The USS Mahan last deployed in 2014 and returned to Naval Station Norfolk in January 2015 before heading to BAE Norfolk for their Drydocking Selected Restricted Availability period.

After completing work at the shipyard, the ship has gone underway with both the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower and the USS George H.W. Bush CSG’s on training exercises.
