Taking Action Against Crime: Hampton Police arrest suspect for two separate shootings

HAMPTON, Va. – A man has been taken into custody in connection with two shootings.

He had been featured on News 3’s Taking Action Against Crime segment earlier this month.

Police were looking for Paris Javon Cooper, 19.

Cooper was wanted for one count of robbery, two counts of maiming, one count of abduction, and four counts of use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

According to police, the first shooting happened on Oct. 29 when Cooper tried to rob someone on Derby Dr. and shot the victim.

The second shooting happened a few days later on Cunningham Dr.  Police say Cooper shot a man multiple times.  The victim was transported to a hospital and is in serious but stable condition.

Police say he was considered armed and dangerous.
